Another attraction in Granbury is the gravesite of Jesse James.
Apparently, you're supposed to put a penny on the grave....I haven't yet figured out the significance of that but we did it anyway.
Love the old fences and gates in cemeteries.
Most of the old gates have gone missing but this one was still intact.
Aren't these red berries pretty?
We headed to Glen Rose, where Corey's plant is located, to do a little sightseeing. Their courthouse square is similiar to the one in Granbury.
These autos rolled in while we were walking around the square.
Gotta get ready for work. Tomorrow, our visit to Dinosaur Valley State Park!
After cleaning up from two hurricanes, our lives have exploded into a frenzy of travel for a month or so. Some business for me and some pleasure for us both. Last weekend, we visited Corey and Brittney in Granbury, Texas.
Granbury is about 40 miles south of Fort Worth. It's a nice little city situated along a beautiful lake. History abounds in Granbury. Many of the old buildings downtown are made from native stone.
Many have small apartments or B & B's above them for tourists. Corey and Brittney live only a couple of blocks from here in a very cute renovated garage studio. The architecture is charming and so very Texas.
The shops are quaint and many have lovely gardens. My mom spent quite a bit of time collecting seeds from some of the plants to take home for her garden.
The cute beetle was in front of an antique shop.
Just a block off the town square is a really nice park with walking/biking areas, picnic tables and nice landscaping.
That's enough for today. I'll post more pics of the Granbury area tomorrow...as soon as I get unpacked from my business trip this week!
